In 1963: In 1963, the Danish authorities began constructing one of the largest and most costly facilities in Denmark. Built deep in a lime pit blown into a hill, 60 metres down, they constructed a nuclear shelter to house the Royal family, members of the government, the head of defence and leading officials from the central administration should WW3 be a reality.
